Garrixon Design Submission

What: My submission to the Garrixon design contest. Last Comes First is an urban runner inspired by the design process and shoe making practices. Why: I was inspired by Garrixon’s focus on storytelling through footwear so I decided to create a design that highlights aspects of my design process. How: I focused on three areas of my process that are manifested in the shoe. Ideation is represented in the bright colorway inspired by sticky notes, an essential tool of design. The lines and textures on the vamp represent masking tape and the process of taping a last. Finally, the red mesh that shows through gaps in the green leather represents the structure and construction of the shoe and its many layers.
